4 Core Roles of HR Service Provider

Human resource department is one of most important departments for any organization. Nearly all activities of an organization revolve around Human Resource department. Professional HR service provider should perform lot of roles and functions in an organization towards the actualization of business objectives and goals in order to drive organization’s mission and vision. Core roles of HR service provider are grouped into four roles that should be performed professionally. HR person should be all of these:

  1. Strategic Partner

HR service provider should be able to partner with firm in making plans that will align human resources of organization with long term business vision and goals of firm. He must be able to provide tools and contribute to business strategy development. HR service provider is the eyes of the organization in the outside world and must be a connection between the society, government and his firm.

  1. Administration Expert

HR service provider is expected to carry out administrative duties so that organization can operate successfully. He must be able to manage the cost of labors and plan for administrative budgets.

HR service provider should be able to discover evolving trends that are beneficial for the organization. He should be able to manage budgets such as selection, recruitment, training and development etc. Good HR service providers should also be a good negotiator when it comes to salary decisions.

  1. Change Agent

HR service provider should always be able to find out new ways of performing their duties that can move the organization forward. He should be able to convince firm’s management in the need for change and address employees of the organization about those changes. As an expert in his field, he must be capable to create new organizational change without causing a disturbance in firm’s business.

  1. Employee Champion

Good HR service provider is the one who is capable of managing the selection, training, recruitment, career planning, development and succession planning and performance management. He should be able to determine long term HR needs, assess current resources and determine which areas in the organization need change.

As an employee champion, HR service provider should be involved in grievance handling issues in the firm.  He is to handle all matters of employees such as medicals, leave issues, pension matters, general welfare and housing issues.
